School Bus Catches Fire In Sayreville A school bus caught fire in Sayreville on Tuesday afternoon, May 14, authorities said. All seven passengers and the driver escaped safely, they said. Police and firefighters were at the scene of the fire reported at 3:55 p.m. on Louis Street, according to Lt. James Novak, a Sayreville police spokesman. Alternate arrangements were being made to bring the students home, Novak said. The cause of the fire had not been determined as of press time. Residents were urged to avoid the area.
