18 Orange County Residents Charged With DWI In Weekend Stops

With police agencies in the area cracking down on drunk, drugged and distracted driving, several local residents were among nearly two dozen who found themselves charged over the weekend.

Orange County

  • On Friday, Aug. 3, State Police troopers in Wurtsboro arrested Bloomingburg resident Nicholas Hurst, 21, for DWI. He was driving on Route 209 in Mamakating when he was stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation. Further investigation found that he was under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested.
  • On Friday, Aug. 3, State Police troopers in Middletown arrested Middletown resident Edward Avila, 55, for DWI. He was driving in Middletown when he was stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation. Further investigation found that he was under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested.
  • On Friday, Aug. 3, State Police troopers in Monroe arrested Bloomingburg resident John Young, 37, for DWI.   • On Saturday, Aug. 4, State Police troopers in Newburgh arrested Newburgh resident Carlos Zevala, 27, for DWI. He was driving in Newburgh when he was stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation. Further investigation found that he was under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested.
  • On Saturday, Aug. 4, State Police troopers in Montgomery arrested Walden resident Tina Szalcsinger, 47, for DWI.
