Animal Cruelty: Man Caught On Camera Abusing Friend's Dog At Mall In Paramus
A Rockland County man who was dog-sitting for a friend was caught on video punching, kicking and otherwise abusing the baby pit bull at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, authorities said.
Joseph Caraccia, 39, of West Haverstraw, was caught thanks to a good Samaritan who called police to the parking lot of the mall on Tuesday, Oct. 1, Paramus Police Chief Robert M. Guidetti said.
The caller "observed the abuser punching, kicking, and throwing the dog into a vehicle," the chief said.
It was later discovered that the dog -- named Stormy -- is only eight months old, Guidetti said.

A Burlington County jury has found an Evesham man guilty of fatally stabing his friend and a dog during a robbery, authorities said.
After deliberating for just over an hour, a jury returned guilty verdicts against Donovan G. Hollingsworth, 26, on charges of murder, robbery, cruelty to animals and weapons offenses. Sentencing is set for Oct. 27.

Repeat Offender: Fairfield Man Nabbed Second Time For Torturing Animal, Police Say
A Fairfield County man who was arrested last year for allegedly abusing and torturing a cat has been arrested again for doing the same thing again, police said.
Following a continued investigation into the actions of Raymond Neuberger, age 39, of Fairfield, after his Tuesday, Oct. 04, 2022 arrest, Fairfield Police arrested him again on Monday, Feb. 6, said Lt. Michael Paris of the Fairfield Police.
In the new case, Neuberger is again accused of abusing and torturing a different cat than that of his previous arrest, Paris said.

CT Woman Arrested For Cruelty To Animals After Dog Dies With Injuries
A Connecticut woman has been arrested for cruelty to animals after one of her dogs died with signs of abuse.
Christelle Sommervil, age 41, of Milford, was arrested on Monday, Feb. 8, on a warrant by Milford Police.
Sommervil is accused of bringing her deceased dog to the veterinarian. Upon arrival at the vet, it was found that the dog had a strong odor of urine, bruising along the abdomen and body, crusting over the eyes, a pressure sore, and was emaciated, Milford Police said.
Sommervil was charged with cruelty to animals and released on a promise to appear ticket.
Man Charged With Killing Girlfriend’s Cat In Naugatuck, Police Say
A 25-year-old area man was arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend's cat during a domestic dispute.
Christopher Monteleone, 25, of Naugatuck, was arrested around 11 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 9, after police responded to an apartment for a reported domestic violence incident, said the Naugatuck Police.
When officers arrived on the scene they learned that Monteleone allegedly killed his girlfriend’s cat, police said.
