Middletown Police Chief Announces Retirement

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – Middletown Police Chief Ramon Bethencourt will retire at the end of July.

Bethencourt began his career with the Middletown Police Department in December of 1992, rising through the ranks to become Orange County’s first African-American Chief of Police in February of 2010.

Bethencourt previously served as a patrolman for the Village of Ellenville Police, from 1989 until his appointment to the Middletown Police Department. He is a graduate of the 233rd Session of the prestigious FBI National Academy.
