The evening featured some heated debate, with opponents of the $500 million theme park arguing that its construction would destroy the town's character and create traffic headaches along Route 17, the Record reported.

A total of four resolutions were passed to help Legoland move toward a final approval. All four measures passed with a 4-1 vote.  Councilman Kenneth Newbold voted "no" each time, the Record said.
